DISPENSARY
We have a well-stocked dispensary on site that holds a large quantity of all required medication for your pet’s needs. We keep a minimum stock level of all essential medication and if we don’t have something you need at the time, we have a next week-day delivery service to ensure we get it for you as soon as possible. All medications are prescription only so a vet will need to authorise any medication before it is able to be dispensed.
I am running low on my pets medication and need a repeat prescription, how do I do this?
In order for us to request a repeat prescription from the vet you will need to contact the practice via email on reception@caerphillyvets.com or via the phone on 02920 869928. You may then order your repeat medication with the receptionist. All repeat medications should be ordered a minimum of 48hrs in advance to ensure we have time to ask a vet to authorise the medication and get it ordered in for you to collect. Any orders made after 2pm cannot be guaranteed for next day collection. Once your prescription is ready, a member of staff will call you to arrange collection. Emergency prescriptions can be supplied at the vet’s discretion for a fee.
I have ran out of my medication and need a urgent repeat prescription, can I have it today?
We understand that sometimes you forget to order your medication and you suddenly find that you have no more left. Please call us on 02920 869928 as early as possible in the day and we will do our best to get you an emergency supply. Please be aware we cannot guarantee that your medication will be in stock or that we can give you the full amount on the same day.
Where do I get my medication after my appointment?
If you are in for an appointment and the vet has prescribed you some medication, you will be dispensed this at the time of the consult. We aim to provide all medication straight away however this may not always be possible due to stock levels. If we have insufficient stock of a required product, this will be ordered in for the next week-day.
Can I get a written prescription and buy my medication online?
We are able to offer a written prescription for medication to be bought online. This is to be ordered the same way as a regular prescription with 24hrs notice and there will be a fee for this. Please enquire for current prices.
Can I continue to get a repeat prescription without my animal being seen?
We are required by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to see an animal on repeat medication at certain intervals to determine that they are still on the correct medication or dosage. This may require blood or urine samples dependent on the medication required. Normally these are done every three months, but can differ between circumstances. If you are unsure if your pet is due for a prescription check, please order your medication as normal and we will call you back to book you in if an appointment is required.
