NUTRITION ADVICE

What do I feed my puppy or kitten?

What to feed your new member of the family is one of the most important decisions you will make.

It is essential to feed your puppy or kitten a diet suitable for the stage of life, and development, that they are at.

We recommend our Virbac HPM life stage diets. Virbac HPM is a high-quality, scientifically advanced range of nutritional pet food products, formulated by veterinary surgeons and nutritionists, tailored to the specific health and life stage requirements of your pet

Benefits of feeding Virbac HPM life stage diets:

-    Protein source is a human grade meat
-    Highly digestible so good for young tummies
-    Low allergen formulation
-    Smaller stools due to high digestible content
-    High protein (30% more) and low carbs (40% less) which is essential for carnivores
-    Dental/tartar protection
-    Skin and coat support
-    Joint and muscle support
-    Assists weight management
-    Helps to maintain renal function
-    Palatability guarantee – 100% money back guarantee if your pet doesn’t like it
-    Costs per day are cheaper than two main market leaders – Hills and Royal Canin

Virbac HPM also offers a loyalty scheme at Caerphilly – buy five bags and get the sixth free (same size bags and life stage to be eligible). Just ask for your loyalty card at reception

Life stage diets are also available as neutered diets, which we recommend switching to once your pet has been neutered as their nutrition requirements differ from those of an unneutered pet. This will prevent the intake of excess calories and help your pet maintain a healthy post-neutered weight.

Individual diets have the following benefits for dogs and cats:

Baby

-    High energy density for growth – with high quality animal protein
-    Low starch content – helps promote good digestive tolerance when changing from milk diet

-    Higher taurine content for kittens – important for eye, brain and heart development
-    Betaglucan for enhanced immune system

Junior

-    High but not excessive energy for correct stage of growth
-    Betaglucan for reinforced immunity
-    Passion flower and valerian for enhanced learning, in this important stage of training
-    Stimulated digestion – clay protecting the lining of the intestine, good stool formation and protection from infection and inflammation
-    Weight regulation – L carnitine assists the metabolism of fatty acids preventing excess weight gain

Adult

-    High quality animal protein and human grade fats, balanced with optimal calorie content – high palatability promoting lean muscle mass
-    Vitamin E and selenium – an anti-oxidant that helps prevent cell ageing

All pet diets can be ordered on-line for next day collection. Submit your request electronically and we will reply with the cost and arrange collection.
