Preventative Treatment Programme

All dogs and cats need regular preventative treatment to ensure a long and healthy life, therefore, all of our schemes include:

• Full annual vaccination booster to maintain protection against the major infectious diseases, including feline leukemia for cats and kennel cough for dogs. 
• Health check every six months to monitor general health and condition and to identify any developing problems early.
• Regular worming, with reminders to keep intestinal parasites at bay.
• Full year's flea treatment, with reminders to protect your pet against the misery of fleas and the skin diseases they can cause.
• laboratory screening for senior pets once yearly including blood and urine tests. It is always important to discover any early indications of kidney or liver disease or problems such as diabetes. Also any pets on long term medication can benefit fron having a laboratory health screen.
• Any dental treatments your pet requires will benefit from a 50% discount once a year
• Consultations and drugs prescribed will be discounted by a full 10% at each visit - subject to terms and conditions.

We will advise you on the details of the preventative programme and let you know when treatment is due. All you have to do is remember to bring your pet to the surgery.

Microchipping to safeguard your pet if he is lost or stolen (see below)

Microchip

Many pet insurance schemes provide compensation to owners if their pet is lost. We prefer a more positive approach. All pets registered under our Scallywags Practice Membership Scheme are fitted with a microchip. This is a tiny device, painlessly implanted under the skin, which can be "read" by vets, animal charities and local authorities. Should your pet ever stray or be lost, it can be identified and returned without delay.

How do I join?

The Scallywags Practice Membership Scheme  is only available from Caerphilly Vets. Dogs and cats of any age are eligable for membership. We will arrange for you to complete an application form and a direct debit instruction. All your monthly payments will be collected by direct debit on the 1st or 15th of the month.

If paying by direct debit, please note that Caerphilly Veterinary Centre has appointed the BACS Approved Direct Debit Bureau, Eazy Collect Services Limited (www.eazycollect.co.uk), to collect your payments.  VetDebit will be shown on your bank statement for these direct debit payments.
